Every MLB game

No MLB consensus right now. It shows once enough picks are in on a game.

Baseball bettors love a big favorite. Ace on the mound, good team at home, -220 on the moneyline, and somehow it still feels like free money. It isn't, and seeing how heavy the public is on those games is a good way to remember why.

MLB public betting is the share of picks on each side of every moneyline, run line and total today. For each game you get the percentage, the number of picks behind it, and the crowd's side highlighted. The numbers combine the CentSports consensus with the full-game bets our own players place on MLB odds today, one per player per side, and they update until first pitch.

The moneyline comes first in baseball

Baseball games are close. A huge share of them are decided by a run or two, so most people just pick the winner, and that's the moneyline. The run line is baseball's spread, almost always 1.5 runs: the favorite at -1.5 has to win by two, and the underdog at +1.5 covers if it wins or loses by one. The total is combined runs, Over or Under. The page shows the public split for all three, but the moneyline is where most of the action and most of the story is.

Read the price, not just the percentage

In baseball the price does a lot of the talking. Seventy percent of the public on a -130 favorite is a very different thing from seventy percent on a -250 favorite. The second one has to win more than seven times in ten just to break even. Under each game you'll find the prices at the sportsbooks we follow, with the best one for the popular side picked out. On a big MLB favorite, a few cents of price is a real difference over a season.

Pitchers move everything

Nothing swings an MLB line like a pitching change. A scratched ace, a bullpen game, a call-up nobody has seen: the price moves, and the public picks move with it. That's why the morning numbers can look nothing like the numbers an hour before first pitch. Check back close to game time, especially on getaway days and doubleheaders.

Reverse line moves in MLB

When 70% or more of the picks are on one team and the price moves toward the other, the page tags it as a reverse line move. Tap the game to see the opening line next to the current one. In baseball it's often the moneyline that moves, a favorite drifting from -150 to -140 while the public piles on. That's a book telling you something, and it's worth hearing before you lay the price.

Games that have started stay on the page until midnight with the live or final score, so you can check how the crowd did on the day's slate.

A long season rewards patience

With games almost every day from spring to fall, MLB is the sport where small edges add up and small leaks hurt the most. Public betting numbers help you avoid paying too much for the obvious side. Pair them with the MLB expert picks, and when you've got a game you like, bet it with a free balance. Your full-game bet counts toward these percentages.

MLB Consensus Picks FAQ

What is MLB public betting?

It's where the everyday bettors are on today's baseball games: the percentage of picks on each side of every moneyline, run line and total.

Why is the moneyline the main bet in MLB public betting?

Baseball is low scoring and lots of games are decided by one run, so most bettors simply pick the winner. The run line (usually 1.5 runs) and the total are there too.

Do starting pitchers change MLB public betting?

Yes. A pitching change can move the line and the picks a lot, so check the numbers close to first pitch.

What's a reverse line move in baseball?

Most picks are on one team, but the price moves toward the other. In MLB that usually shows up in the moneyline. The page tags those games.

Is MLB public betting data free?

Yes. The percentages and sportsbook lines are free for everyone, no login needed.
